Telefónica today announced the launch of Movistar/O2/Vivo Travel, a new digital travel experience for its customers from Europe and Latin America who travel abroad. Travel includes daily tariffs for data roaming and access to content from the world’s biggest travel site, TripAdvisor. The service, which is being launched today in Germany, will be launched in the next few days in several European and Latin American countries under the commercial brands of Telefónica: Movistar /O2/Vivo.
Travel is an application that aims to make it easier for Telefónica customers to use their smartphones when travelling in Europe and Latin America, without having to worry about incurring excessive costs due to roaming or having to rely on access to WiFi networks. Travel offers a simple and transparent daily tariff for data roaming at very affordable prices.
As part of this differentiated offering from Telefónica, users can also manage their data consumption and the contracting of the tariff from an app which is available for the Android and iOS platforms. The app also includes access to travel content from TripAdvisor with useful information about tourist attractions, hotels and restaurants and the opinions of millions of travellers.
The app also allows content to be downloaded to devices so that users can consult it in offline mode without having to consume additional data at their destination.
“With Travel we are offering a unique experience with which not only can our customers use their smartphones without fear during international travel, aware at all times what they will have to pay and what they are consuming, they can also enjoy travel-related content from TripAdvisor, the world’s biggest travel site,” said Elisa Caballero, Group Director of Consumer Marketing Global at Telefónica. Movistar/O2/Vivo Travel is available from today to O2 customers in Germany and in the next few days will be made available to Movistar customers in Spain and O2 customers in the UK for their European trips. Movistar Travel will also be released later in Argentina, Colombia, Peru and other countries in Latin America.
Operators will announce the rates that are applicable for each country and that users may contract through different online and offline channels in due course.
