Telefónica España, has announced the availability of McAfee ’s Multi-Access (MMA) software to protect smartphones, tablets, PCs and Macs from the risk of data loss, theft or viruses. McAfee’s security service with Movistar enables consumers to connect to the internet with confidence by safeguarding users’ data and identity across up to five devices and protecting against the threats of malware and cybercrime.
As Spanish consumers use more and more devices to connect to the internet throughout the day, it’s never been more important to protect the increasingly valuable and personal content stored on smartphones, tablets and computers. With McAfee’s Multi-Access offering, Movistar customers in Spain can stay safe while surfing the web with MMA providing 24x7 anti-virus protection and safe web search by blocking risky links, such as phishing sites. If the device is lost or stolen, Movistar customers can trace and block the device and delete personal information remotely if required, safe in the knowledge that the data can be restored on another device.
Furthermore, with this new service offering McAfee and Movistar address consumer demand for simple and effective internet security. Research conducted in 2013[1] revealed that 75 per cent of Spanish consumers are interested in a cross device solution. Helping consumers to increase their online safety, MMA not only protects up to five devices with internet security for computers, ID protection and parental controls, but it also provides enhanced usability with McAfee’s unique password manager, SafeKey. This feature enables users to securely store usernames and passwords to favourite sites, and enables a simple log-in from any device, with just one click.
Nick Viney, VP EMEA, Consumer, Mobile and Small Business at McAfee, commented: “With consumers using multiple devices to connect to the internet, it’s important to make comprehensive security simple and affordable, no matter the platform or the device of choice. With increased demand for internet services it’s important that consumers aren’t left exposed to the numerous and constantly evolving threats and that they feel safe to use the internet and their devices free from worry. We’re really excited to be working with Movistar who recognises this need and shares our commitment to online safety.”
Fernando Abella, Digital Services director at Telefónica España, said: ‘Accessing information and services at any time, across any device, is no longer a ‘nice-to-have’ feature but a necessity. Whether shopping online, conducting internet banking or surfing the web, consumers want the freedom to do so safely and securely, from any device. With this new service Telefónica and McAfee help to make security simple by protecting multiple devices from viruses, threats and risky websites all under the one easy to use service subscription’.
