Mum’s hormones could make female magpie chicks more adventurous




New research has revealed female magpie chicks are much more adventurous than male siblings – and this could be down to the types and amount of hormones provided by the mum. The results suggest that hormonal as well as post-natal environmental mechanisms could be underpinning this pattern and creating extreme personality differences between the sexes.
